Recovery Strategy for the Least Bittern (Ixobrychus exilis) in Canada
The Species at Risk Act (SARA, Section 37) requires the competent minister to prepare recovery strategies for listed extirpated, endangered or threatened species. The Least Bittern was listed as threatened under SARA in June 2003. Environment Canada led the development of this Recovery Strategy in partnership with the Parks Canada Agency. This recovery strategy was prepared in cooperation with the Provinces of Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
The 60-day period to provide comment on the proposed recovery strategy for the Least Bittern (closing February 18, 2012) is extended for an additional 30 days to March 19, 2012.
On January 30, 2015, clarifications to names of critical habitat units and descriptions were made in Table B-2 and Table B-3.
Consultation period: 2011-12-20 to 2012-03-19
