Special Significance of the Species
Abronia umbellata occursin an uncommon ecosystem in British Columbia; the sand beach/sand dune system on the outer west coast. The species is also unusual in that it is an ephemeral plant that appears and disappears at lengthy intervals. It is one of the rarest plants in Canada.
