The Author

Joël Bonin obtained his Master's degree in wildlife resources at McGill University in 1991. His thesis concerned the ecology of Gyrinophilus porphyriticus and other members of the stream salamander community from the foothills of the Adirondacks, in southern Quebec. He has conducted several extended surveys of stream salamander species throughout the province. He has written various scientific papers and status reports on seven species of amphibians and reptiles. He is actively involved in research and conservation projects concerning the native herpetofauna. He is the Quebec provincial co-ordinator for the Canadian Declining Amphibian Populations Task Force and a member of the COSEWIC Reptile and Amphibian Subcommittee. He is currently working with the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
